Welcome to the Hellesdon Players website.

The Players have been going for fifty five years
with humour, pathos, blood, sweat and tears.
Rehearsing our moves in various rooms,
Props stored in cupboards with buckets and brooms.
The Centre would echo with lines from the Bard,
Or our heads hitting walls when we found it too hard.
Building sets on the stage that put others to shame,
Attention to detail is the name of the game.
From back yards to ballrooms, valleys to hills,
Palaces and woodsheds, satanic mills.
One challenge we had for our practical team,
A motorised cruiser to sail "Way Upstream".
Men sometimes in frocks, or high heels and tights,
Women with breads and swords having fights.
Continual searching for costumes and props,
Hours spent rummaging in charity shops.
Or wet Sunday mornings buying ill fitting suits,
For seventy five pence from people's car boots.
Hunting for things in draughty old attics,
Oh the joy of Amateur Dramatics!
With humour, pathos, blood, sweat and tears,
We look forward to another fifty five years.
